Indiana mandatory-reporting statutes
- Suspected child abuse or neglect: Indiana Code IC 31-33-5 (universal reporter; IC 31-33-5-1). Report to the Indiana Department of Child Services hotline: 1-800-800-5556.
- Endangered adults: Indiana Code IC 12-10-3 (Adult Protective Services). Report to APS or local law enforcement.
Duty to warn (clinicians)
Licensed clinicians in Indiana may have duty-to-warn obligations under IC 34-30-16 when a patient communicates a serious and imminent threat against an identifiable third party. Charity care & emergency services
Indiana hospitals are required under IC 16-21-9 to provide emergency services regardless of ability to pay. Behavioral health crises meet this definition.
